Spectacle Create & Capture is built on the idea of understanding technology and standards of design, to then distort and reimagine new ways of presenting ideas. Event lighting design is a perfect example of this. While normally a designer would define a static color scheme and intensity, custom built DMX control software allows us to manipulate sections of a space to reflect mood or point attention at will. Taking cues from theatrical and music lighting design, we can spice up the basic "lighting package" offered. Use of preexsiting structures and textures expand what might seem possible in a traditional sense. Including projectors in the inventory of "lights" allows for a vast expansion of control. Using projectors in a "non-traditonal" sense (ie. skimming surfaces, bouncing from mirrors, use of haze etc..) opens them up to be used as "lights" rather than media playback devices.
